Force Builder ("we," "us," "the site") is a fan-made, non-commercial companion tool for the BattleTech Alpha Strike tabletop game. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google and store them in our database so you can save and return to your force lists and collection.
Content you create. Anything you build or enter while using the site — force lists, formations, saved Commands, Models (including paint scheme notes, painted status, and any photos you upload), and Pilots — is stored in our database, tied to your account.
Locally stored data. Some information stays only in your browser and is never sent to our servers unless you explicitly save it: your light/dark theme preference, and unsaved force-builder drafts (both the scratch "Quick Force" builder and any in-progress edits to a saved list). This is stored using your browser's local storage and can be cleared at any time by clearing your browser data.
Authentication cookies. We use a session cookie (set by our authentication provider, Auth.js) to keep you signed in. This cookie is required for the site to function if you sign in — it's not used for tracking or advertising.
We use your information only to operate the site: authenticating you, saving and displaying your lists and collection, and letting you pick up where you left off. We do not use your information for any purpose beyond providing the service.
We rely on a small number of third-party services to run the site:
We do not share, rent, or sell your personal information to any third party for their own marketing or advertising purposes.
We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand how the site is used and to help us improve it. It collects aggregate, non-identifying usage data — such as which pages are visited, how often, referring sites, approximate location, and browser/device type. It does not use cookies and does not track you across other websites or tie usage data back to your account. See Vercel's Web Analytics privacy policy for full details on what's collected and how it's processed.
We do not currently show ads or affiliate links. We may introduce these in the future — for example, links to hobby-related products (paints, miniatures, tools) — to help support the site. We will never sell your personal data to advertisers, and any ads or affiliate links we add will be clearly identifiable as such. This policy will be updated if and when this changes.
You can delete individual lists, Models, Pilots, and Commands yourself at any time from within the site — this permanently removes that data. If you'd like your entire account and all associated data deleted, contact us at the email below and we'll take care of it.
Force Builder is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, but no method of storage or transmission is 100% secure. We can't guarantee absolute security.
We may update this policy as the site changes — for example, when we add analytics or advertising. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do. Significant changes will be called out on this page.
